Interim Management - operational areas
Projects
A lucrative assignment at home or abroad can only be accepted, if additional
management personell can be made available, so that your active business is not
negatively influenced. And because of long term cost aspects you don't want to
employ new permanent staff.
Work has to be done, but a permanent employee doesn't make any sense.
An example for a classical IM-situation: restructuring has to be conducted
or a production has to be moved abroad. After the job has been done, there is
no need for the specialist anymore.
A M&A-situation: the company for sale has to be made saleable, but not with
long-term employment contracts which only burden the finacial situation
After the acquisition your IM realigns the business (consolidation, integration),
before the personal qualification profile for the new executive manager is being carefully
worded.
Time pressure
A qualified manager must act immediately: at short notice a major order has come in.
All requirements for a sucessfull execution
have been complied. But the vital specialist to complete the project team is missing.
Just-in-time processes: Your company is automotive supplier for a large company and therefore
part in the big supply chain.
Your executive producer has dropped out on short notice. A IM comes in to secure the
ability to deliver on time.
Uncertainty and change
To get ahead for a qualified manager means that he won't take on a position in a company,
which is going through a difficult time
and where the final outcome is not foreseen. A competent IM is exactly looking for a position
like that, because it is a challenge
that will decorate his CV's project list.
Bridgeover of vacant positions
The right executive manager has not been found yet. Or he will only be able to
take on the the position in a few months.
But in the meantime the work has to be done. The search and selection of candidates
takes time and must not be rushed.
You will make the right decision unhurriedly if you fill the vacant position with
a competent interim manager for the time being.
